Sailing The Med
Alicante
Enjoy a fabulous sailing trip in the Alicante region or over to the Balearics. You have a good chance of seeing dolphins during your sailing trip
A perfect way to enjoy the contrasting Alicante coastline is from the sea. While sailing in the sunshine you can look back on the golden sandy beaches, rugged cliffs, pretty little coves and mountain ranges which make the Alicante region so special.
You also have a good chance of running into dolphins playing alongside the boat or shoals of colourful fish during your voyage.
With about 180 kilometres of coast, there are plenty of places to explore along the Costa Blanca. So for a special day - or more - at sea, why not get together with family or a group of friends to charter your very own boat?
Sailing The Med has a beautiful 43-foot sailing yacht available for day trips, weekend cruises or holidays around the Costa Blanca or over to the beautiful Balearic Islands. The professional, qualified crew can sail you to wherever you wish to visit - it's your sailing holiday and so they will put together a package which is tailor-made for you.
You can charter the yacht for a day trip to the beautiful island of Tabarca where the crystal -clear waters are perfect for snorkelling and swimming. Alternatively, you could head up the coast from Alicante to Villajoyosa, with its colourful fishermen's cottages and fabulous seafood restaurants or the pretty little beach resort of Altea to visit the hilltop old town with its iconic blue-and-white tiled domed church and white buildings.
For longer trips, there are so many beautiful beach resorts to explore along the Costa Blanca such as Calpe with the emblematic Ifach rock jutting out to sea, Javea which has amazing beaches and old town or Denia to visit the castle and chic marina or try the delicious Denia red prawn.
A lovely trip is to head over to the Balearic Islands of Ibiza, Formentera or Mallorca which have fabulous beaches, culture, cuisine, and great nightlife.
You can get in touch with Sailing the Med to talk about your dream trip so they can arrange everything for you. You may fancy a full day at sea, head to a new destination each day or simply find a lovely spot to drop anchor for swimming or a bite to eat.
This is a lovely short break or holiday with a group of friends or family as children love getting involved on board by helping to steer the boat or change the sails.
Alternatively, you can learn the ropes yourself by booking a learning to sail holiday for up to six people with Sailing the Med or get an internationally recognised qualification from the International Yacht Training syllabus.
Courses include an introductory, one day start yachting course; an international crew course over five days; a flotilla skipper course over five days; and a bareboat skipper course. Sailing the Med also provide courses for powerboats and RIBs, including the International Certificate of Competence and if you are an experienced sailor, they can offer Yachtmaster training at coastal level.
These courses are all-inclusive with all meals and soft drinks provided. However, you may want a night out at a local restaurant to try Alicante dishes such as paella or other rice dishes, fresh seafood and fish, or Spanish tapas to share.
