One lake is pink and the other is blue - so picturesque!
More than 100 species of birds, amphibians and reptiles live in the La Mata-Torrevieja lagoons. Inside the nature park lie Torrevieja's salt lakes which produce 700,000 tons of salt a year.
This is a must-see park for all nature lovers and bird watchers. The best time to visit is at sunset or sunrise, particularly if you are a photographer. You will find an abundance of wildlife particularly flamingoes, ducks, wading birds and gulls. One lagoon is pink and the other is blue.
This is a fabulous place for a gentle stroll, picnic or barbecue. It is a lovely relaxing place on the outskirts of the busy Torrevieja beach resort.
Make sure you have time to visit Torrevieja as it is a lovely town with plenty of places of interest including beaches, an old submarine, museuems, restaurants and bars. If you visit on a Friday, Torrevieja town centre holds one of the biggest street markets in Spain.
