On this unique tour, you will discover 2 cultural heritage sites: 1. The largest palm grove in Europe and the most beautiful in all of Spain! Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000. 2.The Huerto del Cura Garden is a private historic garden, which was declared as National Artistic Garden in 1943 and it is considered as Cultural Heritage of the Valencian Community. The grove looks natural, but it's not natural. It was created by the Arabs in the tenth century. When it was created, a complex irrigation system was used, some of which is still used today. Huerto del Cura Garden contains a stunning variety of tree species, palms, cacti and flowers. The park has a pond with colorful fish, as well as peacocks and ducks. You can feed the animals (food is sold in the store on the territory of the park). The gem of the park is the Imperial Palm Tree. Its name comes from the Empress Elisabeth of Austria (“Sissi”), to which Chaplain Castaño dedicated when she visited the orchard in 1894. A memory of this visit also lies in the bust of the Empress situated at the north wing of the Imperial Palm Tree. The shoots of this specimen of palm tree, who are relatively frequent, generally develop at the base of the tree, when it is between 10 and 15 years old, however in this case they were formed when the father palm tree was more than 30 years old and at a very uncommon height of 2 metres, very far from the roots, where there is less sap. Both visits consist of an independent walk and exploring natural attractions. Our group lieder will accompany you during the walk, if you wish. This quiet and peaceful place is not accompanied by a guide. However, you can use the audio guide for free by downloading it to your phone (in English, Spanish, Valencian, French and German).
