Description

'The Ring of Salt and Sea'. This 3-hour ride is designed to make the most of an e-bike's range, allowing you to enjoy the scenery without ending up exhausted. Route Details Estimated duration: 3 hours (including photo stops). Distance: Approximately 25-28 km. Difficulty: Low (mostly flat terrain). Surface: Asphalt, bike paths, and compact dirt tracks. ️ Detailed Itinerary 1. The Railway Legacy: The Vía Verde The route begins in the heart of Torrevieja, next to the old Station Museum. From here starts the Vía Verde, a perfectly maintained path that follows the old route of the train that transported the salt. It's a very comfortable stretch where the e-bike glides smoothly, taking you away from the urban noise as you venture into the salt landscape. 2. The Visual Show: La Laguna Rosa Halfway along the Vía Verde, you'll take a detour to the shores of the Pink Lagoon. This is the highlight of the route. Thanks to the Halobacterium bacteria and the Dunaliella salina algae, the water takes on an intense pink hue, especially in the sun. The e-bike touch: You can easily ride along the perimeter trails, reaching less crowded areas where the mountains of white salt (the 'garberas') contrast with the pink water. 3. The Natural Refuge: La Mata Park Continuing north, you'll enter the Lagunas de La Mata Natural Park. Here the landscape changes: the pink turns blue and the vegetation becomes denser. You'll ride among vineyards (where the famous La Mata grape is grown) and dense pine forests. There are several wooden vantage points where you can get off your bike to observe flamingos, stilts, and other migratory birds in absolute silence. 4. The Mediterranean Drop-off: The Coast and Torre del Moro After leaving the natural park, the route becomes purely coastal. Upon reaching Playa de la Mata, you'll head back south along the sea. The climb to the Torre del Moro: This is where you'll be thankful for your bike's motor. There's a slight incline to climb to this historic vantage point, from where you'll have a 360-degree view of the entire Alicante coast. Las Calas: The last stretch runs along the seafront promenade, passing by small rocky coves with crystal-clear water until you reach the harbor again. What makes this e-bike route special? Unlike a conventional bike, the e-bike allows you to maintain a constant speed even on the loose sand sections of the nature park or when climbing to the vantage points. This guarantees that in 3 hours you'll see 3 different ecosystems: the industrial-salt, the forest, and the coastal. On this sightseeing tour, you'll be able to take the best photos of the most rural and spectacular places in Torrevieja. You will receive a supply bag with water.
